Canada 2007
I booked my flight withwww.canadianaffair.com I flew with Air Transat (charter flight) to Toronto from Manchester in the premium section (extra leg room seats) the service is fabulous in this section, worth every penny, it took 7 hours and 20 minutes outbound.
I then booked through expedia.com for The Fairmont Royal York, which is one of the oldest buildings in Toronto and is very grand, some amazing films have been filmed there, they have a list as long as your arm and then at the bottom of the list it says ITV's Blind Date, how funny is that! I got an amazing summer deal discount which was on at the time and ended up only paying around £60 a night for 4 nights.
I then went up to Niagara Fall and in fact stayed in Niagara-on-the-Lake which is a stunning quaint little town next to the falls, I stayed at the Shaw Club Hotel and Spa, a stunning and I mean stunning boutique hotel, the rooms are gorgeous and not only do you get the most comfy bed ever , a huge plasma, a jacuzzi free standing bath, a telly in your bathroom but also your own pet fish, I called ours Reg, check out his picture! It's perfect for a romantic break or celebrating an anniversary should you ever visit Toronto and only 90 mins in a car from the city itself so dead easy to get to.
We hired a car through www.yes-canada.com , it was really cheap including insurance and a tank of fuel.
We stayed then one last night at a stunning uber luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Toronto, Other wise known as "the soho met" the place was super cool not only in design but the service was outstanding, the bar was once home to Justin Timberlake whilst he partied after a gig with his "people" and only last week Liv "Lord of the Rings" Tyler was staying there, the hotel has hosted so many mega stars from Beyonce to JLO, even if you don't stay there the bar is worth a look and a drinkie or two!
I flew home again with Air Transat who were great except for the check in agent at Manchester airport going outbound, she must have been a supervisor, she had that air about her, but so miserable and very stern towards the passengers, plus she didn't ask me one security question..shocking and scary!
Canada is clean ,crisp and beautiful, Toronto is a great alternative to New York (and if you want to go to New York so much then just cross the border from Niagara Falls at the brdige into Buffalo into America, an easy drive honest! Give Canada a go after all we share the same Queen!
