Chris has a jam-packed show every Saturday but we managed to get into the studio to ask him a few questions.

Here's what he had to say...

Describe your shows in one sentence?
The three-hour weekly ramblings of a madman.

Describe the main features on your show?
Call Waiting, What's Your Name, Things To Do At The Weekend, Radio Origami, Fun With Sheep and Home Dentistry. That should give you a flavour of what we do, but if you're none the wiser then you'll just have to listen.

Why should listeners tune in to your show?
Because the tunes are splendid and the yapping bits in between are occasionally not totally un-amusing.

How did you get into radio?
I joined Capital Radio in 1984. I was basically headhunted off the telly because my looks were clearly fading.

What's the best thing about working for Real Radio?
They pay me in pound notes with no tax or VAT. Plus they agree to leave me entirely alone in the choice of music and content of the show.

Tell us one thing your listeners would not know about you?
I used to be a secret train-spotter.

What do you do while the songs are playing?
Usually listen to the producer whining on about her bad back.

What do you do when you're not presenting?
Usually sit through hours of x-rays of the producer's back.

If you weren't a DJ, what do you think you would be doing?
Driving lorries. I drove lorries briefly during the 70s and absolutely loved it.

If a film was made of your life which actor should play you?
Brad Pitt. Nothing contentious there...

Outside of radio have you ever won an award for anything?
Lots and lots of telly awards, the Kent Yard of Ale Drinking Championship and an Angler's Mail fishing trophy.

What is your favourite song?
A Day In The Life by The Beatles.

What's your favourite decade and why?
Now. Because I'm having a very nice time.

What was the first record you ever bought?
I'm a DJ. I don't buy records.

What's the worst single you ever bought?
I just told you I don't buy them, but the worst one I was ever sent was Barbie Girl by Aqua.

What would you do if you won £1,000,000?
Get my producer's back fixed.

What's the biggest fish you've ever caught?
A 200lb halibut, although I did once hook a large live cow on the back cast. It was much bigger than the halibut but it doesn't really count because it didn't stay on long.

Tune into the Chris Tarrant Show every Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
