Qualification for the European team got underway last month and skipper Colin Montgomerie says he'd love to have a Welshman in his team on merit.

Tournament Director Richard Hills has also revealed there are contingency plans in place should the event be affected by rain.

He said: "We have about 5 hours of spare time on the Sunday morning, and within the captain's agreement there is the plan that the match could potential run into the Monday.

"We haven't had to do that in recent matches and hopefully that'll still be the case next year."
