Two Girls and a Bike

EJ and Helen celebrate their return to Real Radio

Producer EJ & Helen Sweetland returned to the studios of Real Radio Wales in Cardiff on Help for Heroes Day following a mammoth 188 mile tandem cycle ride to raise money for the charity.

Starting out from Llandudno Pier our '2 Girls on a Bike' cycled through the whole of Wales via Betws y Coed, Machynlleth, Newtown, Brecon and Merthyr stopping off to make collections on the way.

A crowd of listeners and staff gave them a big welcome home. Military personnel and a brass band from RAF St Athan were also there as they arrived. As fireworks and glitter canons went off EJ & Helen weren't the only ones to become emotional!

Through her tears producer EJ said: "We're so overwhelmed by this welcome. It's only now hitting home what we've actually done. I'm not kidding but it's been tougher than we ever imagined".

Real Radio Afternoon presenter Helen Sweetland added: "Help for Heroes does such amazing work. Thinking about the charity has spurred us on. Our aches and pains from the ride are nothing when you put things into context. We've met some amazing people along the way and been humbled by people’s generosity".

So far the girls have raised just over £3,000 through their tandem bike ride!
